Sonic Sez: Bring Back SatAM by mentalbraincomix Sonic Sez: Bring Back SatAM by mentalbraincomix
Sonic SatAM fans unite!

If you guys have any requests for one of these, let me know!

EDIT: If anyone wants to knock this pic and feels like putting me down for liking this show or making this picture, then GO AWAY. If you have nothing better to do than to disrespect other people, then YOU HAVE NO LIFE. Leave your negativity and crappy attitudes at the door and I'll do the same for you. If not, then you will be permanently blocked. Also, please do your homework about SEGA, DiC, and SatAM before trying to get into a SatAM argument with me. People are more than capable of having friendly discussions without resorting to arguing. Thank you.

EDIT #2: I've gotten some angry comments from other SatAM fans on this deviation. That's quite understandable, as I share your frustration. However, let's please not resort to name calling against SEGA. While certain things Sega do, and continues to do, anger me (and I'm not saying that you have to agree with everything that they do), please understand that they are human beings too who are capable of making mistakes. A lot of people at Sega are just trying to do their job.

Here lately, they've decided to make Sonic the Hedgehog 4 with us old-school fans in mind. They've also let Shout! Factory (and here lately a few other companies) release SatAM dvds. Also, they continue to let Archie comics put SatAM characters into their stories. All of this stuff has to go through Sega first for approval. If Sega did not care, then they wouldn't of let these companies do these things for us. I don't know about you, but all of that stuff is pretty cool. Thank you, Sega!

If you really want to bring the show back, name-calling is not the way to go. Look at it this way...You just bought a big package of really delicious cookies from the grocery store. Two people see the cookies and walk up to you. One of them says, "Give me a cookie NOW, bitch!!!!!!!" The other person says, "Hi, could I please have one of your cookies?" If you were to give a cookie to one of these people, which one would you give the cookie to? I wouldn't want to give a cookie to the person who called me a bitch. I'd say, "Man, get your own damn cookie!" or something like that. Wouldn't you? It's like that with Sega. They're human and have feelings too. Please don't call them horrible names.

If you want to make a difference for a possible future for SatAM and its characters then you can do one or more of these following things. Write Sega a letter and tell them how much you love this show; ask them *nicely* to try to do something more with the characters or try to work something out with Cookie Jar Entertainment (who owns the animation rights) to make another show. Write a similar letter to Cookie Jar Entertainment. Write a letter to Archie and tell them how much you love the SatAM characters; ask them to put them in more stories or whatever. Buy Archie Sonic comics and/or graphic novels. Buy SatAM dvds. Shrink down this deviation and use it as an avatar to show your love for the show. These are just a few things that you can do. There are many things. Just PLEASE do not resort to name calling.

EDIT #3: Well there might be a new Sonic cartoon: [link] According to the article, it's more comedy based, but that's still pretty cool. If this comes to pass, hopefully it'll be great and possibly have a SatAM cameo or two.

EDIT #4: THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of the favorites & comments! :) You people kick some serious ass!

Bringing back SatAM would be awesome, but I'd love some new Sonic animes. Bring back Robotnik cause he kicks Eggman's @$$, then go from there! Robotnik writes the first few episodes himself, so they just have to come up with a few good plot-twists, and we've got a great new series!

I just don't want any weak humans put in the plot. They're the main reason people hate on the animated stories. If they can write some good plots for humans, like they did with Maria, it's awesome, but if they put in a Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu in (Like Chris) the story just gets bashed to no end. They have to think characters through, especially humans, or they sink the story.

Sonic, if I could bring SATAM back I gladly would. Here's hoping posters like this are enough to convince the powers that be, that SATAM should be brought back and have more then 2 seasons!

You know how they make Batman direct to dvd animated movies? It'd be cool it they made something like that for SatAM. I think it'd do well.

Maybe instead of just continuing the same show, there could be sort of a spiritual successor to SatAM. Like a new series with some of the same characters, continuity, etc. It could be its own separate thing, yet invoke all of what made SatAM great. For instance, the mood and tone of the content. It could be dark yet adventurous at the same time. Serious and creative at once.

Here's another big thing, though. If the prospects of a new show were to ever happen, then you know for a fact that there would have to be some elements from the modern games as well. Just saying, because most Sonic fans who would watch something like an animated Sonic show today probably wouldn't know everything about SatAM and its universe. Hence, why we would need a new universe and continuity to build from. Or at least, one that combines some elements from both SatAM and the games. Personally, I am very interested in how a cartoon meshing modern character designs and SatAM style darkness and writing could turn out. :D I mean think about it- if there was to be just a sonic cartoon that only caters to long time SatAM fans, then it would unfortunately be short lived. Why? Because in order for a show to continue and increase in popularity, there would have to be something in it for everyone. Otherwise, we'll be right back where we started.

I'm not going to bash you or insult you, I'm just going to say DiC was behind SatAM, not SEGA, and even if SEGA was behind it it would never come back because Yuji Naka hated it

It's cool. I don't think Mr. Naka is working for Sega any more. Even if he was, he probably wouldn't have a say in what a new Sonic show would be like. From what I understand, he would just be responsible for helping to make the video games. Back in the '90s, Sega were the ones responsible for going to DiC and asking them to make Sonic cartoons, which Sega then approved.

It was like this:

1. Sega wanted to market Sonic through tv shows, so they hired DiC.

2. DiC made AoStH & SatAM.

3. Those shows got the Sega stamp of approval & they ended up on tv. If Sega didn't like them, they would have gotten trashed.

Everything like this has to go through Sega first to get approved. In this case, Sega hired DiC to make Sonic cartoons for them.

I've done my homework since my last comment here... allow me to make a few corrections,

1. DiC is out of buisness and SEGA owns SatAM!

2. Its not SEGA you sould be pissed at, its the FUCKING POWER RANGERS!

Nah, I can't blame the Power Rangers. It was just another show that happened to be on at the same time. The people making it were just doing their jobs. I blame it more on ABC execs.

SEGA doesnt own SatAM, DiC does.

It got cancelled when the sports programs started sucking the life out of other networks for higher ratings.

I wish they would bring SatAM back and include Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, and Cream. Also include the Chaos Emeralds. And make Tails play more of a role by having him fly the Tornado instead of having that retarded Dulcy.

Sorry to say this pal, but the only reason why they stopped making the show was because of the death of Ben Hurst...R.I.P xx

If you mean why the show was originally canceled, then it's because of a new ABC children's programming exec at the time. I think Mr. Hurst might have given up trying to bring it back before he died because of issues with Sega (don't quote me on it).

Yes, RIP Ben Hurst. :(

Nope, Ben Hurst Died in 2010, and SatAM was canceled a long time ago.

"According to writer Ben Hurst, the series was ousted when the new president of ABC children's programming came on board. The competition from several other series, in particular Power Rangers on Fox, was beginning to take its toll on SatAM's ratings, and apparently the new president wasn't particularly attached to the show. As a network series, SatAM's fate rested solely in the hands of ABC."

MAN I loved this as A Kid SOOOOOO Damn Much yet since Sonic Heroes and onward SEGA has been ruining Sonic completely like Sonic 4 was such A HUGE dissapointment. I actually thought this was the True Sonic till SA1 came and it had Humans and he was on Earth and no SATAM Cast was in iit I became seriously confused and upset I was like where are the Mobians and where is Sally and the Freedom Fighters also ever heard of this unreleased Sonic Game called Sonic Mars it was completely based off SATAM and was being made by STI (SEGA Technical Institute) There for they do own the characters yet the project was cancelled and they moved on to the unreleased Sonic X-Treme also I hated Modern Sonic's design alot I miss 90s Sonic at least he is back in Sonic Generations cause Sonic went downhill really bad I switched over to Mario and play his games more these days one thing I really hate is SEGA keeps on making New Characters yet they already have plenty in the Comics thay can be used and they still have Mighty and Fangs who haven't been used in Years I think out of any other companies SEGA makes the worst decisions ever.

Me too. :) You're awesome! SatAM was the highlight of Saturday.

Yeah, Sega *has* ben ruining Sonic. I know that back in the 90s, the USA branch of Sega got to make more major decisions. Now it's the Japanese branch who calls all the shots. (Not hating on Japan at all. It just seems like Sega of Japan is not very connected with the other worldwide fans.) In business, you need to listen to your buyers, or they will stop buying your products. That's just common business sense. So if they don't shape up, they're going to go down the crapper very fast. It seems like they're trying at least, with Sonic 4 & Generations. All they have to do is to just keep listening to fans' criticism & try to improve as much as possible.

Yeah, like you, I was disappointed sooooooooooo much once I found out what SA1 was like with the humans and all that. It was so UN-Sonic like and bizarre. Mobius & other 90s elements make much more sense. Can't fix what's not broken ya know? ;)

Mighty, Fang, & Ray the Squirrel make some cameos in Generations. They're on wanted posters in the SA2 level. Hopefully Sega will do more with them in future games & such.

I look forward to more Nintendo games too like Zelda & Mario Kart. Fun stuff!

Hello, my username is ~CAMurray, and I'm here to raise awareness of the documentary film artform.

Are you tired to fictional narratives resorting to fakey tricks (such as exploding cars) to keep you interested? Well, there's a solution!

Now, you may be thinking, "But documentaries are so BORING!" Well, not all of them are! In fact, many documentaries can be as enthralling as fictional narratives, but with the added advantage of being REAL! So don't delay! Get rid of your silly fandoms and learn to embrace reality as it is, not try to escape it!

I could be taking your comments the wrong way, but you seem to be comming off rather rudely (not to mention vainly).

"Silly fandoms"? What's wrong with being a cartoon fan? I'm a cartoonist. Cartoons are art too. This is rather insulting.

While I agree with you about documentaries (yes, they're awesome), I don't like being told that I should stop being a fan of something in order to embrace "reality". Please show some respect for other art forms and the people who are involved with them. If you don't even have the curtesy to do that, then please don't tell me or the other commenters here how we ought to be spending our time. Thank you.
